“I won’t just stand around and let you hurt yourself.” His dark brown eyes had never looked more worried than this.
You walked me around and I watched the back of your head — suddenly overcome by the feeling of knowing.
You felt guilty more than anything. He is quiet possible the best person you had ever met here in Amsterdam. He is kind and smart and so caring towards people around him. Everything seems fine, but that’s the problem — he is far too good for you.
You weren’t a bad person, but you sure as hell that you couldn’t compare to the man you had grown to love.
“I think it would be better for you to just stand around,” You stopped for awhile. “Just stop trying to help me, it’s hurting you.” You finally said that, but you didn’t mean it actually. Because it feels like you were holding him back for everything.
“Who said that? You’re wrong. It’ll only hurt me if I’m doing nothing. Don’t listen to that voice inside your head, listen to mine,”
“I just want you to be honest with me. To tell me how you’re feeling. I’m here for you, you know that right? You will always got me.” He placed a hand on your knee to balance himself, so he could look into your eyes, while you’re sitting on the bench.
They said I should love more easily, but maybe I was torn. Well, I always put it all the blame on myself. Because in the end, it’s all on me in my head.
His eyes sent meaningful messages to you and you felt like dying the whole time. A crooked smile and galaxy eyes, how could you not fall for him. Maybe it wasn’t just his smile, you fell for his eyes — the way he lit you up inside.
“I just don’t understand, you’re so good and brave and you always make me happy. I never get it how you could feel all those things for me.” You confessed.
You hated how self-destructive you were and how you always sabotage good things that happened to you. You always ended up hurting the people you loved.
“I don’t wanna fight with you, but sometimes I feel like I don’t know how not to.” You continued, pulling your head so you could look back into his eyes.
Sorry, I’m the one who burned us down. But it’s not what I meant.
He laughed quietly. “Next time tell me if there is something bothering you, even if you think it’ll bother me. I’d listen to every thought that passed your mind if you’d let me.”
“I think I love you,” You whispered. “And it really scares me. I don’t wanna ruin this.”
He smiled softly. “I know,”
“And I don’t plan on letting you go.”
I want to meet you in every place I ever loved. Tell me that I’m all you want even when I break your heart.
Meet me in the afterglow.
